Wednesday October 15, 2014: 12 News Political Reporter Brahm Resnik to Moderate GPS School Board Candidate DebatePosted: 2014-10-14 10-12-14 (reprinted with permission from Gilbert Watch)Please attend this very important forum/debate to be held this Wednesday, Oct. 15 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the auditorium of Gilbert High School, 1101 E. Elliot Road. Please arrive early. Doors open at 7 p.m. Both Dawn Brimhall and Ron Bellus need to see your friendly faces! Brahm Resnick despises conservatives. It's also obvious from the tone and "issues" identified in this article in the Arizona Republic that this debate is intended to crucify and defeat the conservative candidates. They are branding the current conservative board members as secretive, evasive, unfair, uninformed, and off topic. ClickHERE to read the article titled "Republic, 12News to Host Gilbert School Board Debate." Time Inc.’s Money magazine ranked Gilbert the best place to live in Arizona and the 22nd best place to live in America. The study, released Sept. 19, evaluated all 781 cities with populations between 50,000 and 300,000, analyzing factors like jobs, housing, education and health care. Gilbert is the only Arizona municipality in the top 50. Click HERE to read "Gilbert Ranked among Top Cities in Country, Best in Arizona." What other accomplishments have taken place since conservatives joined the governing board? In 2011, Gilbert Schools got a B rating from the Arizona Auditor General. In 2012 and again in 2013, they got an A. Click HERE. Critics like to say that the A has nothing to do with the board. Rather, it's the teachers and students. Does that mean that in 2011, Gilbert's teachers and students were somehow of lower quality? Does that mean that Mesa's teachers and students are also somehow inferior? They keep getting a B. Click HERE. In FY2011, Gilbert put 59.9% of its dollars into the classroom. By FY2013, Gilbert put even more toward the classroom; 60.7%. The board is the ultimate authority on where the money is spent. The GPS board has not laid off a single teacher due to the failure of an override. They implemented a true teacher pay for performance program. They reduced class sizes in grades K-3 The Gilbert Board discontinued the use of a “Memorandum of Understanding” with the teachers union and transferred all the most critical language over into policy for the benefit of all teachers.
